Once children have created their plans, invite them to begin decorating their puppets to show the families they have created. Remind them that you are available to hot glue their decorations to the felt, which will help heavier objects stay in place.

Once the puppets have dried, set up a location in the classroom for storytelling with puppets, or use whole-group time for children to share their stories.

Documentation:

The sketches and puppets can be used to document the children’s experiences and understanding of the related science concepts. You can video or take anecdotal notes during the children’s storytelling to document their related communication and expressive experiences.

Extension Lesson:

This lesson can be extended by inviting the children to create puppets of their actual families; this type of experience could be fun to complete with their families during a family-event night at your school.
